This story I got in form of PPT. Here it is:
Once upon a time a very young woodcutter asked for a job in a timber merchant, and he got it. His used to get good salary and working conditions were also very good. Woodcutter used to LOVE his job and was determined to do his best. Being very happy with this young woodcutter, once, his boss gave him an Axe and showed him the area where he was supposed to fell the trees. The first day, the woodcutter brought fifteen (20) trees. “Congratulations,” the boss said, “YOU are doing awesome!”
The determined woodcutter worked harder the next day, but he only could bring ten (15) trees. The third day he worked even harder, but he was only able to bring seven (12) trees. Day after day he was bringing less and less trees.”I must be losing my strength.” The woodcutter thought. But somehow his mind was not agreeing to this reason. He started introspecting but didn’t get an answer on how wass it possible that on putting 100% effort also, it’s not bearing fruit!!
Finally, he went to the boss and apologized, saying that he could not understand what was going on.
“When was the last time you sharpened your axe?” the boss asked.
“Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees…”
Moral: Most of us never update our skills. We think that whatever we have learned is very much enough. Sharpening our skills from time to time is very much essential.
So keep learning 🙂 Happy Learning 🙂
P.S: Example given here has limited purpose and don’t stretch it too much 🙂 Do Save Trees!! 🙂
